Barbershops

In Black and Hispanic neighborhoods throughout New York City, barbershops are more than places to get a haircut. They are gathering spaces built around community, conversation, and the unique relationship between a barber and their client. Weekend nights are especially vibrant, with shops often buzzing with activity late into the evening. I spent several months photographing this culture and the personal connections within it, creating a documentary series that was later picked up by CNN.
